This is the blog of Taras Young. I’ve been researching Cold War documents for more than a decade, and wrote Nuclear War in the UK (Four Corners Books, 2019), the first comprehensive survey of public information about nuclear attack, pulling together decades of brochures, booklets, posters and restricted files from Cold War Britain.
This blog loosely focuses on British civil defence and ‘domestic propaganda’ from the period 1947~1991. Since 2020, it has served as an extension to the materials available in my book.
